Our Governors’: Ann O’Toole
Ann O’Toole is a highly experienced educationalist and consultant with expertise in inclusive education strategies. She is passionate about widening participation, improving access and promoting social inclusion in the further education and skills sector.
A competent and knowledgeable lead inspector and a project evaluation specialist, Ann shares her expertise with a high number of education and training organisations to raise standards and implement sustainable improvement strategies.
Ann has held senior leadership roles in a number of further education and training providers, at local and regional levels, and has successfully led on significant quality improvement initiatives for organisations nationally.
Ann is a keen and dedicated authority on teacher training and development. She has developed and delivered pre-service and in-service initial teacher training and learning support courses in a range of contexts, including the new level 5 apprenticeship for teachers in the learning and skills sector and specialist programmes for teachers of English and maths. Ann is the co-author of the Functional Skills English (Level 1) textbook published by Highfield Qualifications and was the chief reviewer/editor of the Functional Skills Mathematics (Level 1) textbook by the same publisher.
She has also worked extensively with an international awarding organisation as an adviser on the structure and content of a range of new qualifications and on qualification reform, and provided detailed guidance on end-point assessment methodologies and content. Ann has a history of creating bespoke high-quality learning resources and teacher guides for a vast number of clients.
