Level 3 Early Years Educator

As an early years educator, you will be planning and supervising child initiated and adult led activities which are based around the needs and interests of each individual child, supports children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play.

Start Date: Once a month

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible in helping ensure each child feels safe and secure observing each child. You will help to shape children’s learning experience, meeting the care needs of the individual child such as feeding, changing nappies and administration of medicine, working in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of each child.

Individuals will undergo all the checks as per the EYFS requirements to ensure suitability to work with children.

Entry Requirements:
Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.
Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications.

  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3, and the British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for apprentices for whom this is their primary language.
  • Apprentices must successfully complete the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval and monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety ExecutiveProgression Plan:
    Job Roles: Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Nurse, Assistant Childminder,
    Nanny, Early Years Worker

Progression Plan:
Job Roles: Further Education: Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner, Level 4 Early Years Educator, Level 4 Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Children and Young People option), Level 4 Children Young People and Families Practitioner, Level 5 Children Young People and Families Practitioner.

Professional recognition and certification:
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval and monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive

End Point Assessment:
Employer is satisfied the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the level of the occupational standard. The apprentice must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard: • Early years educator qualification (Level 3) • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or level 3 Award in emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements. Voluntary aid society, member of trade body with an approval monitoring system, or acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive. • English and maths (Level 2) The apprentice also must complete a portfolio of evidence that will underpin the Professional Discussion. This cannot include reflective accounts or witness testimonies
